Overview

For this individual project, you will be required to research a topic of your choosing and write a 600 word (+ or - 50 words) article, include an image, and in-text citations with a work cited page.

We will then combine your class periods work into a magazine that will be on display in the library. We will come up with a name as a class when we get closer to the end.

Format

Your article must answer the who, what, when, where, why, and how your topic is important to today and the future. Here is a sample outline, but it may change based on your topic.

Potential Outline

Intro: What is it, why do people use it?

Body Paragraph: Who developed it, how was it developed, and what problem does it try to solve?

Body Paragraph: Evolution of it over time and/or how is it made

Conclusion: Why is it important and what is the future of it in society

Requirements

Specific Topic

  • 600 words is not a lot when you are describing the history of a something. Choosing a specific topic will help you keep your article concise.  

  • Your article must answer the who, what, when, where, why, and how your topic is important to today and the future.

Research Notes

  • Since you will be researching a topic, you will have to take notes that demonstrates your research. Be sure to include a citation for each article you use to research.

Work Cited - In-Text Citations and Work Cited Page

  • For your article, you will be required to have both in-text citations as well as a work cited page at the end to give credit to where you got your information.

  • You will be required to use MLA Citation.

Sources

  • You are required to use reliable sources as your evidence.

  • You must use a total of 3 different sources

Image

  • Must be appropriate and relevant.

  • Must have a caption.

Plagiarism

  • Using exact phrases or sentences from sources without citing them will not be tolerated. If found, then the article will not be included in the magazine until it is fixed and parents/guardians will be contacted.

Turning In Work

  • All work must be turned in on time through Google Classroom.
